He Kongshan, a man of wine, was originally named Kongzhan, meaning "Empty Cup," vowing that every cup he met would be drained. In his youth, he sought the chivalrous General Guo Huailie of the Raging Tides and bonded with Zhang Huaishen like a brother. After Huaishen's death, the grandeur of Liangzhou offered him no solace; even wine lost its flavor. Thus, he changed his name to Kongshan, meaning "Empty Mountain," and withdrew from the world.
