Since the Zhenguan era, the Yellow River breached eastward; the scenic spots of the mountains, once tiger dens, suddenly became a dragon's palace. Later, though the floods receded, the riverbed remained. Whenever continuous rains fell, carriages and pedestrians suffered constant hardship. For over a century, the people of the mountains and the disciples of the Mohist worked with united hearts, building several diversion complexs; hundreds sacrificed their lives. I follow in their footsteps, carving this stone to record the people and their dedication to the public good. May those who died for the people rest in peace. Written by Li Huairen, Disciple of the Mohist Below, densely carved, are many names, some new and some old...
